Hooray! It’s nearly Summer, or at least, the summer weather is almost upon us. So it was decided that a blog hop to celebrate and see the summer in was a great idea.
I have to say I think one of my best summer holidays was time spent in Tunisia in 2008. We went to the El Hana Palace Hotel in Port El Kantaoui. I mean, how can having constant temperatures of 36 -40 degrees Celsius every day for two weeks, with only a little marginally less heat at night, be a bad thing? I’m not a heat person actually but I have to say, that as long as the pool beckoned, the gin and tonics were in plentiful supply and the sea breeze wafted over the amazingly azure beach and sea front, I was a fairly happy bunny.
The hotel we stayed in was superb, with air conditioned rooms, a most luxurious bathroom, and a constant supply of chilled water so we didn’t dehydrate. The days were spent out by the pool or at one of the lovely restaurants in the complex. The nearby Marina was a complete treat to see, with all the rich and gob stopping yachts that cruised in and out regularly, really showing you how the other half lived. My husband spent his days with a permanently chapped chin from drooling so much. Hot desert nights were exotic and exciting and we even got to spend the night at a nearby Moorish type castle watching a fantastic laser light show showing the history of Tunisia, complete with real horses and men in tunics on horseback with swords.
It was a simply beautiful place to holiday and I can highly recommend it.
And the most important thing of course- the ‘in pool’ hotel bar 🙂
Many a day was spent walking over the walkway from the shaded enclosure and then back out again with a cool beer or a frosty gin and tonic.

Mmmmm. Sounds magical! And such lovely pictures too. I could certainly use a beach vacation this year–or at least a little lounging beside a pool! I’d settle for that–and of course, a pool boy to go with it. 🙂
It was a very different holiday, and we were so fortunate to have brilliant weather the whole time we were there. I can definitely recommend Tunisia 🙂

It was damned hot and when the family went out into the desert to ride camels I declined to go because I couldn’t face the whole day in the heat. But they enjoyed it a lot so I stayed by the pool….
