Our cheery dining room
What Christmas means to me and my family

This year I have to confess I’ve been a bit of a Grinch. For some reason I’m not just not into the whole spirit of it like I was before. But then I took a look at some old photos my family and I took when we went to Austria in 2009, to the Weismann Hotel in St Georgen. It was my husband, my son and daughter and my mother. We took a coach trip from the coast at Dover, onto the ferry and into the beautiful country of Austria. It was snowing as you can see from the picture of the hotel. The picture that looks like a gingerbread house was one I took of a house we could see from our hotel room. It was all geared up for Christmas and was absolutely charming. We went to the local Christmas market, drank gluhwein, ate warm muffins and wrapped up warm against the cold. We visited the beautiful Lake District, took a ride on a sleigh drawn by two ponies (no reindeer unfortunately) and simply enjoyed the best this country had to offer. It was one of my most remembered Christmases even if my mum did moan about the lack of decent gin in the hotel 🙂 Our dining room was festive, with a lovely tree in the middle and our hosts were gracious and welcoming.

We were all together, happy and fed, warm and in the Christmas spirit and it made me thankful for my family, the ones who have stuck me through me in thick and thin, supported me in my single minded quest to be a writer and forgiven me when I snarl at them for interrupting me when I’m in the process of having two men make out passionately in a number of places. So I guess that perhaps Christmas spirit is catching and maybe, just maybe, I might start getting it back soon.

I have a new release coming out in December, date still to be announced. I can’t show you the cover yet as we have a big cover reveal planned, but it’s called ‘Worth Keeping’ and you can find out a little more about it here on my Pinterest board.

Nick Mathers rescues Owen Butler from the Norfolk shore, but Owen’s love brings Nick back from the edge of oblivion.

Abused horrifically when just a boy, Nick Mathers is a tortured soul. He’s mostly come to terms with it, but sometimes it all gets a little much. On those dark days, he tends to think about dying—a lot. Then, one stormy night on the Norfolk coast when he’s about to take the plunge, he finds a body, a beautiful stranger washed up on the beach and near death. Nick takes him home and slowly nurses him back to health. As he does, he finds a love unlike any other. Owen Butler’s body is as warm as that water was cold, his heart as big as the sea. And Owen is a man who swears to repay the favor and save Nick from himself, for Nick is indeed a man…

WORTH KEEPING

Now we also needed to post our favourite Christmas Cookie recipe…so here’s mine

cookie

Ingredients:
• 225g butter
• 1 cup castor sugar
• 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
• 3 cups plain flour
• 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
• 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 2 eggs (59g)

Method:
Preheat oven to 180ºC. Line baking trays with non-stick baking paper. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, sift in the flour, bicarb soda and cream of tartar. Mix until a smooth dough has formed.
Knead the dough lightly on a floured surface, wrap in plastic wrap and put in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Roll the dough between two sheets of baking paper until about 5mm thick. Cut out biscuits using Christmas shaped cutters and place on prepared baking trays. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Have fun with the icing and get creative!
VOILA!!

WICKED WARRIORS INDEED.. don’t we all just love them?

I’m sure we’re going to see all kinds of deliciously decadent and wicked warriors on this blog hop. Vampires, Werewolves, Devils, Angels, supernatural beings that tantalise our senses, drain our bodies of emotions and make our loins flutter in sheer, heavenly pleasure….so why should I be any different?

I’ve got a two book supernatural series in the works called ‘Double Alchemy’. It’s about Warlocks, Water Sprites, Witches and dastardly villains intent on destroying our hero and a lot of others in the process. It’s also sexy man on man romance, filled with conflict, magyck and plenty of hot action, both in and out of the bedroom. This is a little bit about it….

Quinn Fairmont is a warlock, a remnant from an ancient family just trying to forget about it and live in the 21st century. But he’s not averse to using a little warlock magyck when it suits him. Inside him dwells his Withinner, an alter ego called Taliesen, his dark, magyck side. Cade Mairston is an anthropologist, passionate about his work and career. Their attraction to each other is sparked from their first chance meeting. As things heat up between them, they form an uneasy alliance to fight off the evil that threatens to harm them and at the same time come to terms with each other in a way they would never have envisaged.

Oh yes. Quinn is a Warrior indeed – ruthless, single minded, tough, dangerous and not just to Cade’s senses and sanity. Quinn is a man on a mission, with a terrible responsibility to a whole race, let alone his partner. Being a Warlock, Quinn has to do things that are not particularly socially acceptable in the real world. He has death on his hands. But he’s also loyal, fiercely protective and fair and will go to the ends of the earth to keep Cade and his friends safe from harm. And of course, Quinn’s dark alter ego, Taliesin, a sixth century Welsh Bard and Sorcerer, is a force to be reckoned with too. Dark and brooding, imbued with a power even beyond Quinn’s, Taliesin is the very definition of a mighty warrior.

You can see all the pictures for this book on my Pinterest boards

The character of Quinn takes inspiration from the sexy and tough looking Daniel Craig. I confess, I love him as James Bond and next to Sean Connery, he’s been the best one yet in my opinion.

Guilty Indulgence Blog Hop

http://guiltyindulgencebookclub.blogspot.com/p/blog-hops.html

Badge Book Indulgence Hop

Here’s the thing. My debut novel was called Cassandra by Starlight and it included a fairly controversial topic abut female on male rape. I did a huge amount of research for the female on male rape scene as it was something new and appeared to be a fairly contentious issue. I came across some real life experiences and men’s views and one of them that really impacted on me was a story and some views by a man called James A. Landrith who’d been subject to this very thing.
James was matter of fact, truthful and at the time of my research, he was openly active in helping promote the awareness of male rape and disprove the misconceptions out there. I used James’ views and the research and blogs etc he’d done as the basis for my rape scene for my leading man, Bennett Saville. At no time did I make actual contact with the man and his material went into my ‘research’ archive in my Google mail account.
As is the practice being a self promoting author, Tweeted , Facebooked, Google +’d and blogged the news about my book all over the place in the hope someone was listening to me. Imagine my surprise when James contacted me via Twitter over this past weekend and gave me the links to recent posts and some more information. He’d seen my promotion post on Twitter somehow and decided to get in touch. We chatted online, had a few messages pass between us and James then surprised me with the fact he’d written a blog about it on his own site and would I mind if he published it, together with links to my website and my book. I also gained a new reader as he downloaded the book to read.
There are two reasons I said a resounding ‘Yes’ to this. One of them is a purely a selfish one – my book was getting exposure to people I otherwise might not have reached. The second one, and honestly, the more important one to me, was it was getting publicity in a way that really mattered – in the context of a really social conundrum that lent itself to discussion and debate.
real men

So, to see a really controversial subject that I used in my book promoted and written about in the way that James has done, lends credence to the fact that we can also use serious topics in our romance books and that sometimes our writing does have an impact on others. It’s awe inspiring for me as an author to see my book written about in this way and I am truly grateful to James for giving me the opportunity to do so.
You can view James’ blog and his comments on my book here – he is a self proclaimed ‘left libertarian blogger, publisher, Marine and civil liberties activist.

TRR Blog Hop – Sept 13 -21st

TRRFallHop

I’m showcasing two books on this Blog Hop , all books that I’ve really enjoyed and will definitely read again. They are Sarah Madison’s ‘The Boys of Summer’ and Lou Harper’s ‘Spirit Sanguine’

THE BOYS OF SUMMER BY SARAH MADISON

Boys of Summer

Sarah Madison writes a wonderful story of romance and love and the two MC’s, David and Rick are just beautiful together. One of the things I love about this story (and there were many) was the humour between the men. I really enjoy a reading journey that makes me laugh as well as cry. And I did weep, but I’m not telling you why. You’ll have to find out for yourself by reading it.

It was a sensual read and when the sex does happen, it’s intimate, wondrous and emotional. I loved the two stories twining together in this one to make a whole and you get a real feel for the developing relationship between these two men.

I reviewed this book for TRR and you can find my full review and the details on this book at the link below.
http://www.theromancereviews.com/viewbooksreview.php?bookid=9567

And now for Lou’s book…

SPIRIT SANGUINE BY LOU HARPER

Spirit Sanguine

Funny, often irreverent, sometimes tongue in cheek and damn sexy read is how I’d list this one. The story of Gabe , a vampire slayer, who meets Harvey, a rather camp but oh so sexy vampire. The two meet, the proverbial stakes fly, they work together to defeat a common enemy and in the process, have hot, raunchy sex, get to know each other and realise that yes, they were meant to be together.

There were places when I chuckled out loud and my husband growled at me to ‘Shut the hell up, no book could be that bloody funny’ -well it was after midnight 🙂 But yes, I did find myself with a few more laugh lines after reading this.

It was warm, sexy, pure fun and another book I will read again. I reviewed this book too and this is the link to follow if you want to find out more.

Safari Heat Blog Hop Sept 11-16th

Safari Heat
All the rules and how the hop will work it listed on the Safari Heat site. Follow the link below.
http://safariheatbooktoursandauthorservices.blogspot.com

I wanted to do something a little humorous for this blog hop. So I thought maybe a quick text conversation between my two characters, Shane Templar and Matthew Langer might fit the bill. Shane is a cheeky hacker, whose favourite tool (apart from his own) is a laptop called Bushwhacker and Matthew is a more reserved, responsible lawyer with OCD tendencies. He likes neat and tidy.

Please note there are some sexual innuendos and chat in this conversation so if you offend easily, please move on …:)

Shane Morning, lover. Hope you made it to work okay after this morning. You totally spiked my traffic this morning. I love morning sex.
Matthew Hell, you are dreadful, Shay. Where the hell do you find these sayings?
Shane I have my ways and means. About this morning – I love playing on your laptop, you know that.
Matthew Sex with you is always a pleasure. I can’t think of anything clever to say like you, I’ll have to Google something. But you have this of mine ♥
Shane Love you too, babe. Fancy doing a little peer-to-peer saliva swapping later? I’ll buy wine. Oh by the way don’t freak out when you get home. I didn’t line up the towels the way you like them. I left them on the bathroom floor, all wet and scrumpled.
Matthew Ha bloody ha. You wouldn’t do that. You know how much I hate it.
Five minutes pass
Matthew Shay, you were kidding, right?
Five minutes later.
Matthew. Bastard. I’m going into a meeting now, so switching off the phone. See you tonight x
Shane Actually I was wondering if you’d like to go back to My-Space, so I can Twitter with your Yahoo, until I Google all over your Facebook?
Matthew –OMG. You are insatiable. I love it. See you later, and then I’ll hack your kernel..
Shane Found the cheesy pick up line site did you? Have a good meeting. Love you x Oh and I was kidding about the towels. But I did mix up the tins in the cupboard…:)♥

Blog Hop for my friend -Kindle Alexander ‘The Current Between Us’

blog tour banner

My friend and great author, Kindle Alexander, has a blog tour going on at the moment. Now I have to tell you a little something about Kindle. She’s not only a great writer who writes books about men loving men and has the greatest characters ever with some of the hottest scenes, Kindle is also a very great lady. She’s kind, she’s funny and she’s helped me on my way to becoming a writer of M/M romance more than she can ever know. She’s been supportive and encouraged me every step of the way. So I owe her a debt of thanks. So as a favour to me and everyone who follows my blog and likes what I post (because why else you would be following me?) I’d love it if you could pay her a visit on her blog tour and leave a comment, maybe buy one of her books and generally just show her some love.

You can see a wonderful, entertaining interview below with Gage and Trent, the two hunky men from The Current Between Us at the link below.

The Equal Rights Blog Hop – Why do I support it?

http://queertownabbey.com/join-the-equal-rights-blog-hop-july-4th-through-7th/

Let me very honest. I’m not gay, transgender, gender fluid, lesbian, homosexual or any other label society chooses to put upon people who are classed as ‘different’ from the norm (according to ‘set society’ stands at least). For who the hell we are we to define ‘normal’ ? And don’t tell me the Bible says so because I might punch you with it. Apologies to any religious friends I have out there but I’m entitled to express my opinion the same way the Spanish Inquisitors did. Only I won’t torture and massacre people who don’t believe the same things I do.

I am a ‘straight’ woman-(another bloody label) – who has been married to the same man for twenty nine years. But that doesn’t stop me getting on my soapbox and reveling in the fact that DOMA is dead, in the UK we have a bill being presented to Parliament that gives same sex couples the right to marry and that at last society is starting to come around to the idea that if two people love each other, who gives a flying f*** what gender they are?

And I also know that these victories are hard won, that there has been a lot of heartache and angst in the process and that there is still oh so much work to do. Lives have been destroyed, people have destroyed themselves after being tainted with the stigma of being ‘different’ for loving someone of the same sex as them and nothing can change that. But there is wonderful and untiring work being done by so many people around the world to get their voice out there and tell people that they are simply human beings -and that’s all that’s required to be in love or get married and share a life together.

I am not a fan of any sort of persecution. I wrote an anthology of poetry about this in my younger days. Colour, religion, beliefs, sexuality – these are all simply facets of life that contribute to our growth as human beings. Which colour, which religion, which beliefs and which sexuality –these are all irrelevant. Instead we have a person who chooses to live their life in harmony with another person. Isn’t that what life is all about? A phrase I think that has been so overworked that it seems to have lost its meaning unless used in cliché ridden conversations and writings is Live and Let Live.

From research I’ve done, it appears that this proverb is Dutch in origin and is first recorded in Ancient Law Merchant by G. De Malynes, published in 1622. It was later included in a book of English proverbs collected by John Ray in 1678. This is what it is defined as being –
Run your own life the way you want to, and let others do the same; be tolerant of differences.

Remember the Christmas Truce of 1914? Both sides of the opposing armies laid down their arms and formed a truce to come together as a group of people just trying to beat the cold, the hunger, the death, the grief and the need to be with other human beings in peace and in harmony. Their differences were forgotten. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could nurture this in every second of every day? If children didn’t have be taught that being ‘gay’ or loving someone of the same sex and wanting to have sex with them was not a sin, that them being different to others isn’t something that can be surgically removed or psychologically changed or meant they don’t have the same rights as other couples do.

So for me being a member of this GLBT community in the way that I am- someone simply believing in the thought that all individuals should have the same rights as others despite their differences – means I care. I support the fight, the drive to take away the imperfections so that life can be the same for all, no matter what their sexual persuasion. And I hope that qualifies me to join this amazingly feisty and passionate band of people and rejoice in their victories.

I’m giving away an e-book copy of my new release, ‘Stripped Bare’ to one random lucky winner who comments on this blog post. You may be asked a question to qualify for the prize draw. The answer is in this post, honest. The book itself will only be released on 22nd July, but I promise, you’ll get it if you win it…

Question for Grand Prize Giveaway- How long have I been married?
