Cover Release- Forever in Starlight

#coverreveal #Starlight #newrelease #bookslaidbareblog
Some of you may know that I wrote M/F before I branched into M/M. The books were well received but as these were my debut novels, I didn’t enjoy a huge amount of success. I was a newbie and didn’t have the panache back them to understand what I was doing 😊 I like to think I’ve grown a bit since then, so my publisher and I decided that the time had come to release the third book in my Starlight series to finish off Bennett and Cassie’s story. This is a May-December romance, Bennett being ten years younger than Cass, and they meet under tragic circumstances. Bennett is an up and coming actor in London, and there are no prizes for guessing who inspired him 😊 It’s one of my two man crushes…

Cassie is successful business woman, independent and feisty. The stories are pretty action packed and there’s loads of excitement and intrigue, including a rather controversial scene which you can find out more about below on James Landrith’s website.

The Boroughs newsletter showcases the cover and the book too http://www.boroughspublishinggroup.com/…/july-2018-e-newsle…

I think most of my readers are M/M readers, but having said that, I don’t want to assume anything. I know some people love to read both genres and more.

Without further ado, this is the cover for my new release, coming on 30th August, that finally gives readers of the first two books the proper ending to the saga. There will be a book tour planned by Carol Fenton for this story, so watch her blog, https://www.facebook.com/BooksLaidBare/ for announcements of dates if you’d like to take part.

My graphic comic teaser – Soul of Discretion

I decided to do something a little different for this book. I’ve always wanted to create a comic book of my characters, perhaps for use as a teaser, to entice the reader into the story using a storyboard of images and a bit of snarky dialogue.

This is what it looks like. What do you think? It’s my first one, I hope to get better. Feel free to download it as a pdf and If you want to view this in a proper comic format, then pop down to Tapas or use a comic reader like Comix, which is free.

Girl Crush by T L Travis Book Tour

I’m thrilled to welcome T L Travis to my website and participate on her blog tour for Girl Crush.  It looks like a very interesting story and while I haven’t read any F/F fiction before, this certainly intrigues me….

Girl Crush is an erotic female romance novella that brings to light that one time…

The one time you found yourself questioning your so-called sexuality, potentially risking your friendship. What if the feelings aren’t reciprocated?

Confusion and pain brings them closer together, feeding from one another’s strengths and thrusting them into each other’s arms.

Are the risks of their new-found love worth the result?

This novella caters to adults over 18 as it does contain a high level of consensual MF (1 scene) and FF sexual encounters.

Title: Girl Crush

Release Date: May 26, 2017

Publisher: Encompass Ink

Genre: Erotic female (LGBT) romance

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35259348-girl-crush

Do you think that giving books away free works and why?

I think so, everyone likes something for free and it gives readers insight into what you write. Possibly drawing them in to read other musings you’ve written.

How has your writing evolved since your first book?

Very much so. I’ve perfected my technique and made it much easier for my editors.

What’s the one thing that has really surprised you since you started writing?

I’ve discovered my inner Mistress whom I didn’t know was there.

Are there misconceptions people have about your genre?

Yes, especially within the BDSM realm. There is a preconceived notion that BDSM is about abuse when it is the opposite. Any good Dom/Mistress knows their sub’s limits and always has their subs needs put first and foremost. BDSM is first and foremost about trust.

What literary pilgrimages have you gone on?

I went to Houston to meet Piper Kay and Jas T. Ward, then to LA to meet Lily Luchesi. These are authors I work closely with and talk to frequently so to me it was very important to meet them face to face. I love them all!

Top 5 ways I like to spend my weekend

Stay in my pjs all weekend – wait, I do that all week ?

  1. Work on our fixer upper with my handsome husband
  2. Catch up on my reading
  3. Cook, I love to cook and during the week my husband gets home too late for big meals
  4. Enjoy the great outdoors and all the Pacific Northwest has to offer

Our one year anniversary was fast approaching and I wanted to do something special for my Gem. She had never been to Victoria BC and I really wanted to show it to her so I booked us a vacation cottage rental with a water view. I needed this vacation to be special. We’ve come such a long way and overcome many obstacles that were thrown at us so we needed a way to decompress.

I booked the rental for a week and told Gem to pack her bag with warm comfy clothes, but to include something special for a night out as well. I wouldn’t tell her where we were going, just for how long we would be gone.

We got in the car and drove into Seattle to catch the ferry to Victoria. Gemma was in awe, she loved riding the ferries and her smile lit up my world. After securing our vehicle, we took the stairs to the café and ordered two cups of coffee and then made our way to the upper deck. Gemma stood at the bow of the deck, her sable curls whipping wildly in the wind but she didn’t care. She smiled like a kid on Christmas morning. I came up behind her, wrapping my arms round her tiny torso.

“Are you having fun my love?” I asked.

“Yes, of course. But I wish you would tell me where we’re going.”

“All in time my sweet, all in time.” I stayed with my arms wrapped around her, protecting her slender figure from the cold winds as we made our way through the sound, headed towards Victoria without a care in the world. Nothing mattered to me but her happiness, something I would do anything to secure.

It was too cold to stay on deck for this three-hour ride, so we went inside to cuddle up in one of the window booths.
“Liz, this is amazing. You know how much I love riding the ferry. I’ve never been to Victoria and I can’t wait.” The announcement had given away our destination, but not all the surprises I had planned for our week away.

I put my arm around her shoulder, kissing her cheek, “I promise you my love, you will not be disappointed.”

“Liz, you could never disappoint me. You hold the key to my heart.”

Her words still warmed me even though she proclaimed her love for me daily. This woman had become my world, and I hers.

BLURB

Tragedy brings together a reserved but brilliant sculptor and an outgoing gallery owner, friends whose love was sidetracked but was always meant to be deeper.

BLINDSIDED

SoCal natives, Nate and Cody have been friends since childhood. Both knew they were different—and the same. At seventeen, a stolen weekend in the Florida Keys drove their connection deeper and hotter than either could imagine. They were meant to be together. Then, for reasons only Nate knows, suddenly they weren’t.

They’re still friends. Best friends. But they’ve moved on and found other partners. The yearning remains, however, despite the long-ago secret that drove them apart, when tragedy strikes, both men find themselves in the dark. They must grope their way back to who and what they are…which they will find in each other’s arms. Sometimes, losing one’s sight can open one’s eyes—and heart.

Andrew Q Gordon – Purpose Blog Tour

PurposeTourBanner

My great friend Andrew Q Gordon has this book. It’s called Purpose and it’s a phenomenal story and one I really enjoyed. It’s been re – launched by DSP Publications, having been re-written, re-edited and now has an most amazing new cover which really appeals to the eye. In my opinion, it’s sexy and mysterious all at the same time. There’s something about black and white photos…

2nd Edition

Forty years ago the Spirit of Vengeance—a Purpose—took William Morgan as its host, demanding he avenge the innocent by killing the guilty. Since then Will has retreated behind Gar, a façade he uses to avoid dealing with what he’s become. Cold, impassive, and devoid of emotion, Gar goes about his life alone—until his tidy, orderly world is upended when he meets Ryan, a broken young man cast out by his family. Spurred to action for reasons he can’t understand, Gar saves Ryan from death and finds himself confronted by his humanity.

Spending time with Ryan helps Will claw out from under Gar’s shadow. He recognizes Ryan is the key to his reclaiming his humanity and facing his past. As Will struggles to control the Purpose, Ryan challenges him to rethink everything he knew about himself and the spirit that possesses him. In the process, he pushes Will to do something he hasn’t done in decades: care.

1st Edition published by Dreamspinner Press, June 2013.

excerpt

When the train lurched forward, panic gripped him. He needed to get off the train. Now! Pressed against the window, he saw four thugs walking behind an oblivious Ryan.

What the hell was wrong with him? He was such an idiot! Ryan had let his guard down because Gar gave him that money.

The train started to pick up speed, forcing him to focus. By now, most everyone was ignoring him. Some watched, but he “suggested” they look away, and they did. Using the moment of pseudo-invisibility, Gar ran to the door between cars. Two from the end. Damn!

Forming a mental image of a Metro Transit cop, he touched the small box on his belt. When he emerged into the next car, he could tell from the reaction on people’s faces they saw an officer, not him.

Thankfully, this car was nearly empty, so no one stood in the aisles. Running as fast as he could, weaving around the poles, he quickly covered the seventy-five feet to the back door. Watching the platform disappear, he tried the door. Locked!

Of course it was locked. What had he expected? Too bad. His need was too great. Gar bunched his muscles, yanked with all his strength, and tore the door from its hinges.

Tossing the twisted metal aside, he ignored the screams of shock from those watching. The clarion ring of the alarm sounded throughout the car as the smell of brake pads filled the air. Not waiting for the train to stop, he leaped down, rolling once to break his momentum.

Behind him, he heard the car grind to a halt. Had he stuck around, he would have heard the angry shouts of people who realized their trip home had just gotten complicated. He didn’t care. Something bad was about to happen to an innocent kid. A little discomfort on their part was acceptable.

Sprinting, he covered the distance to the platform in less time than the train took to leave. Still too long. Ryan and the others were gone. He startled the few people milling about when he ran the length of the tracks, back to the escalator Ryan had used. The press of bodies was too thick. Too many would get hurt if he forced his way past them.

He leaped up from the tracks and ran faster toward the moving stairs. Bypassing the crowd, he used his momentum to jump toward the railing, fifteen feet above. Clutching the black metal tube, he swung himself over, nearly knocking over a half-dozen people.

“Police, move aside!” His shout took a moment to register, but people quickly moved from his path. After vaulting the fare gates, he made for the escalators leading out. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be too late. These were among the longest in the system, and if Ryan hadn’t walked up, he just might catch them.

Two escalators went up, one down. Both were packed.

“Fuck!” Moving toward the center stairs, he decided on his plan. “Police! Out of the way!”

As people answered his command, he spared a second to scan the two up escalators. If Ryan was on one of them, he couldn’t see him.

People quickly moved to the right. Most were already there, preferring not to make the overly long walk. Running up the stairs, Gar let the muted voices commenting on his burst of speed wash away against the only thought he gave attention to: find Ryan before they do.

Twice more, he shouted for people to move right before he made it to the top. Dozens, even hundreds of people milled about the entrance. He cursed himself for not trying to read Ryan’s thoughts. If he knew what Ryan’s mind felt like, he could have used it to locate the kid.

Drawing a deep breath to settle himself, he extended his senses. Maybe he could find his scent, hear his voice, something. Another new emotion struck him: fear. He found nothing. Not possible. How could he lose that ability now?

Nothing made sense. A night that had started out so simple was now turning his world inside out.

Long a fan of super heroes, wizards and sports, Andrew’s works include high fantasy, paranormal spirits, magic as well as contemporary fiction. He is still trying to find the perfect story that will include all his favorites under one cover.

Series: Snowy Range Mystery

Author: Nya Rawlyns

Cover Artist: Dreams2Media

Length: 93265 words

Release Date: June 9, 2015

Blurb: Kit Golden Eagle is running. From poverty, from abuse. Forced to live by his wits, the Ojibwe teen slowly succumbs to living a life of hate and lies.

Josiah Foxglove is given a second chance when he takes over his family’s spread in the shadow of the Snowy Range. A veteran of the Gulf War, he came back broken in body and spirit.

Marcus Colton buried his long-time lover and best friend three years ago. Lonely and still grieving, Marcus finds solace in keeping his business afloat but that doesn’t help him get through the long, dark nights.

Three damaged souls converge as violence wracks the small community of Centurion, WY. The town protects its own so when Kit Golden Eagle shows up, it’s easy to place blame on the stranger. It looks open and shut, but for Josiah and Marcus the facts simply don’t add up.

Something’s rotten in Centurion, something that smacks of a hate crime…

Excerpt

Marcus whispered. He wasn’t sure why he did, but it seemed appropriate, although his idea of stakeouts was limited to what he’d seen on TV. The actors always complained it was boring. It wasn’t, not if your stomach was tied into knots, and the whiskey you chugged in a fit of pique decided to revisit you in the form of acid reflux.

Josh hissed through the speaker, “Don’t know if we missed him, or if I’m farting in a stiff breeze.”

“Don’t mention stiff, Foxglove.”

Josh snorted, the sound rocketing through the cab and sending Marcus into a giggling jag. He’d barely gotten himself under control when Josh yelped, “Sunny bitch. I think I see the van. Damn fool’s coming down that mountain dark. Jesus Christ.”

Marcus warned, “Best not to start our engines until he’s made the turn and gets ahead of us.”

“Copy that. I’ll take point. Stay back. I don’t want you running up my ass if I have to stop fast.”

“You’re making it hard to concentrate, cowboy.” They’d been teasing each other, slinging innuendo like hash at a country diner. It had helped diffuse the tension.

Josh murmured, “Here he comes.” Marcus tensed, waiting. “What the hell?”

“What? What’s going on?”

“He just flashed his left turn signal.”

Marcus frowned, perplexed. “That’s kind of dumb. Why’d he do that?”

“Signaling?”

“Signal? Who for crying out loud? We’re the only idjits out here.”

“Maybe we aren’t.”

TOUR ORGANIZER: CREATIVE MINDS PROMOTIONS https://creativemindpromotions.wordpress.com/

A little bit about Britta

Born in a small town in upstate New York, Brita Addams has made her home in the sultry south for many years. In the Frog Capital of the World, Brita shares her home with her real-life hero—her husband, and a fat cat named Stormee. All their children are grown.

Given her love of history, Brita writes both het and gay historical romance. Many of her historicals have appeared on category bestseller lists at various online retailers.

Musa Publishing publishes Brita’s heterosexual historical romances, including the rewritten and expanded, best-selling Sapphire Club series, each with new titles. Again, each of the titles have again hit the best-selling lists at various online vendors.

Tarnished Gold, the first in her gay romance Tarnished series for Dreamspinner Press, was a winner in the 2013 Rainbow Awards, Historical Romance category. The book also received nominations for Best Historical and Best Book of 2013 from the readers of the Goodreads M/M Romance Group.

Sue’s comment – I read and reviewed this book for The Romance Reviews. I really enjoyed this story and you can see the review here.   Tarnished Gold Review

A bit of trivia—Brita pronounces her name, Bree-ta, and not Brit-a, like the famous water filter. Brita Addams is a mash-up of her real middle name and her husband’s middle name, with an additional d and s.

And now for the real meat of this blog post – Brita’s new novel, Her Timeless Obsession

EXCERPT

October, 1910

Upper Brook Street, Grosvenor Square, London

During a lifetime spent at Danby Terrace, Honoria Danby, Honey to those who knew her best, had excitedly explored the secret passageways and hiding places that made living in the red-bricked townhouse worthwhile. As mistress of the old pile, she intended to restore some of the old charm the place must have once held.

With an autumnal storm blowing sheets of rain against the windows, Honey answered the call of her curiosity, as she had often done on such days during her childhood. She’d spent hours alone amid the relics of years gone by. The high-ceilinged attic beckoned her to poke around amongst paintings by the dozens, statues, and fine china. She had, over the years, restored furniture used by Danby ancestors and filled the rooms downstairs with them.

“Come on, Maizie,” she said to her less than thrilled maid. “Let’s explore that corner with all the trunks.”
“Yes’m. I’ll get the kerosene lamp.”
Honey changed into a work dress and met Maizie at the foot of the stairs. “I’ve been dying to explore those trunks. What about you?”
“I don’t like the dust. Now, you know that.”
“I know, but think of the treasures we might find.”
Maizie grumbled as she lit the lamp, and the dark attic took on light. With the dim recesses lit, Honey strode past covered furniture, rusted rifles, a patinaed garden bench, and an entire dining room set.
“Look here. How have I missed these in all our explorations?” Honey pulled back the sheets that covered paintings of animals, expressionless people, and admirably executed still lifes, “We’ll take some of these down to hang in the dining room.”

While Maizie stacked the paintings by the stairs, Honey delved deeper into the corner. Against the rough-hewn beams rested an age-stained oilcloth-wrapped mystery that had somehow escaped her frequent explorations.
On creaking floorboards, she advanced on the corner, distracted for several moments by copies of old magazines and a marble bust of a bald, bearded man that looked like her grandfather.
She hung the lamp on a nail in the beam. “Maizie, come help me uncover this.”
As they lifted the heavy cloth, dust motes clouded the airless attic as she and a sneezing Maizie unveiled a life-size portrait, well-preserved in a dull gilt frame.

Honoria slid her finger over the textured deep scarlet of the subject’s uniform, over the braided cords at his shoulders, and then higher. She shone the light on his handsome angular face—square jaw with a hint of a shadow. Unsmiling, he stared straight ahead, as though through the painter. “Oh, my, who do we have here?”
She lowered the lamp to the dusty brass plaque at the lower edge of the frame. With a moistened thumb, she cleaned the filthy piece of metal.

Captain Jeremy Saintaubin, Marquess of Galmore, 1803.

Honey stared at the ribbons on the captain’s scarlet coat and imagined his pride as he received them. The hem of his eternally creased black trousers disappeared into his highly polished Wellington boots. His stylish curly black hair, perfectly coifed, did nothing to soften his stiff, broad-shouldered stance. Honey’s heart skipped a beat when she studied his face. A man’s eyes had always enthralled her, especially those that held a hint of mystery.
“He’s handsome, isn’t he, Maizie?”
Her maid held her apron to her face. “Yes’m.” She sneezed again.
Though the captain’s eyes bored through to her soul, Honey tore her gaze from the visage of the handsome Lord Galmore to root amongst the old trunks that lined a darkened wall and peek beneath dust-laden cloths at the discarded remnants of another century.
A swath of blue drew her attention to a blue-and-cream striped Hepplewhite sofa and matching chairs. “Even at a hundred years old, these are in good repair.”
Maizie batted away the dust and mumbled a reply.
“We’ll take these downstairs. We can clean them up, can’t we?”
Maizie coughed. “I suppose we can.”
“You should keep your face covered so the dust doesn’t affect you like that.”
“Yes, miss.”

With Maizie’s help, Honey tugged the furniture out of the way and settled before the first of many trunks that lined the darkest wall. After leveraging one rusted clasp open, she giggled with glee. “Oh look, Maizie. Old clothes.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Honey sat on the plain wood floor and pulled dresses and bonnets from the trunk—silks, satins, cambric, and muslins in styles that had long since lost favor. “They are remarkably unspoiled.”
Maizie sneezed several times, but she managed a weak, “That’s nice.”
“We need to get you out of this attic. Will you go get Frederick and Paul, and they can take these trunks and that huge portrait downstairs? I want to see it in a better light”
“Yes, ma’am.”
While Honey dug even deeper in one of the trunks, Frederick and Paul appeared. “I’d like to have these trunks, this beautiful portrait, and the blue Hepplewhite furniture taken downstairs. You can put them in the corridor until I decide what else to do with them.”

Honey supervised the removals, prodding as much as she dared, eager to see everything in the stark light of day and electrical lighting.
“What do we do with the portrait, ma’am?” Frederick asked.
Honey ran her fingers through a thick coating of dust. “After Maizie dusts it, bring it and this trunk into my bedchamber. The furniture goes to my drawing room.”

One of the most interesting things I’ve ever done is scrounge around an old attic in my family home. My family passed the home down for several generations and each family left behind furniture, trunks, and more, photos and journals that told the story of their time in the world.

In my newest historical romance release, Her Timeless Obsession, I delve into something that has interested me for many years—family history. As a non-professional genealogist, I have researched my own ancestry and gone back many generations. In doing so, I’ve uncovered many stories, some touching and others quite tragic.

In the book, I gave my female protagonist my interest in family history and in doing so, Honey Danby goes to places I only wish I’d gone. Her Timeless Obsession tells the story of a gallant soldier from the Napoleonic Wars and a young woman his sister and mother insist he entertain, with the prospect of offering marriage. Though they do fall in love, their marriage is less than perfect due to outside forces.

Honey, living in 1910, answers her intense curiosity and makes regular forays into her relic-laden attic. There, she uncovers an aged portrait of Regency-era Captain Jeremy Saintaubin, as well as a treasure trove of 1810-era trunks. With the help of a family history, Jeremy’s journal, and touching love letters, Honey steeps herself in what turns out to be her own tragic ancestry.

Have you ever wished you could change events in favor of a more positive outcome? Take back a hastily spoken rebuke, not be in a specific place at a particular time? Change history? So does Honey.

I invite you to join Honey on her unusual journey to save Jeremy and ultimately, herself.

Thanks again for having me here on my Her Timeless Obsession tour. I’d like to invite readers to visit my website, where I have information on my books, as well as writing articles, my blog and on occasion, I host fellow authors.

It was a pleasure having you here Brita and I wish you all the best with your new release.
